The choir warming up before the Celebration Day Ceremony

Celebration Day 2018

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
Celebration Day offered students, parents and staff an opportunity to look back on the highlights of the 2017-2018 school year.
We wrapped up the school year on Friday, June 15 last week with a great Celebration Day. We returned to our regular facilities, the John Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, which is spacious enough for our quickly growing community.

Students, parents and staff closed off the 2018-2019 school year by looking back on its highlights. We enjoyed musical performances by the choir and stage band, and an excellent speech by Grade 12 student Olivia Morgan who gave this year’s My Greenwood Story address. A number of awards were given to students, recognizing achievements across the four pillars of character. Perhaps the most coveted award of all, the House Cup, was awarded to Latimer! It was a great year for school spirit and all the houses earned significantly more points than in past years. For a full list of award winners, click here.

Another special moment? The Head Boy and Head Girl, Liam Wilson and Olivia Kalles, surprised Principal Allan Hardy with a retirement gift — a print of our south stairwell artwork, signed by every Greenwood student.

We thank everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We were thrilled to see so many parents, grandparents and other family members join us. Stay tuned for a link to the full set of photos and have a wonderful summer!
