The Social Affairs Committee arrived early to get everything ready for Semi Formal

Semi Formal: A Glowing Review

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
This year’s Semi Formal was a night to remember, thanks to the hard work of the Social Affairs Committee.

February 2 was the night for one of the most hotly anticipated events of the annual Greenwood social calendar: Semi Formal.

Dressed in their best, 335 students made their way to the Eglinton Grand on Friday evening. The Grand has been a much loved venue for past semi formals. It felt fresh and new thanks to a glow in the dark makeover by the Social Affairs Committee. The evening shone with fibre optic lights, glow sticks and bracelets, and even glowing balloons. Students batted glow in the dark beach balls back and forth across the dance floor.

The Social Affairs Committee spearheaded the event planning, along with help from the Business Office, Ms. Porter, and teacher volunteers and chaperones. The Grade 11s and 12s on the Social Affairs Committee took a strong leadership role, diving head first into the complicated world of event management, and the challenges of planning for such a large group.

All their hard work paid off! It was a fun, memorable evening, with great music and even better dancing. From the wacky suits donned by some of the Grade 12 boys to the cross-grade camaraderie throughout the evening, this year’s semi formal has received glowing reviews.
