Greenwood’s Board of Directors oversees the school's vision, policies and finances, as well as the appointment and ongoing evaluation of the Principal.
The Board of Directors includes Greenwood's founders, representatives from the education and business communities and parents. Operating at arm’s length from the school, the Board oversees the annual evaluation of the Principal and provides strategic planning guidance and support for achieving Greenwood’s mission.

In addition to the Board's responsibilities, Committees have been established to oversee specific aspects of the school's direction, including Governance, Finance, Human Resources and Strategy.

  • Vivian Abdelmessih

    Vivian Abdelmessih is the Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, Canadian Banking, Auto Finance & Wealth Management at TD Bank.  Vivian has over 25 years of experience in global corporate and investment banking, commercial banking and risk management. Vivian holds a Political Science and English degree from the University of Toronto, a Master of Business Administration from Western University and her ICD.D Designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors. Vivian is a current Board member and member of the finance committee for Greenwood and a past Board member for the Bridgepoint Health Foundation. Vivian is also a Board member of the First Nations Bank of Canada.
  • Jennifer Bermingham

    Jennifer Bermingham is a Partner at Strategic Navigator, a full-service market research boutique that provides qualitative and quantitative research, strategy and facilitation. Jen founded Strategic Navigator in 1999, recognizing a need among client organizations for research that digs a little deeper and a strategic partner who employs creativity in design, interpretation and reporting. Prior to starting Strategic Navigator, Jen honed her marketing and communications strategy skills during a span of 15 years in Canadian advertising agencies, including several in the role of Senior Vice President, Director of Strategic Planning.

    Jen’s previous involvement with Greenwood includes facilitating a panel discussion about the Admissions process in 2013 and participation in the Logo Selection Committee. Jennifer has two daughters who are Greenwood alumni: Hannah ('15) and Rachel ('17).
  • Stephen Bowman

    Stephen Bowman is the managing partner of Bennett Jones's Toronto office and a Vice Chair and member of the firm's partnership board and tax department. Stephen's practice includes mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructuring, corporate finance, trans-border transactions, and estate planning. Stephen is a contributing author to Tax Policy in Canada, and a contributing editor to Corporate Finance. He serves on the editorial board of the Canadian Tax Journal and is a Past President of the Canadian Branch of the International Fiscal Association. He serves on the board of directors of the Canada China Business Council and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Royal Ontario Museum. Stephen’s children Callie (’09) and Peter (’12) are Greenwood alumni.
  • Beatrix Dart

    Beatrix Dart is a Professor of Strategy and the Executive Director of the Initiative for Women in Business. Beatrix teaches courses in Management Consulting and Corporate Strategy, in particular the development of growth strategies for international companies. She joined Rotman in 2000 following a successful career with McKinsey & Company, and served as the Academic Director and Associate Dean for Executive Degree Programs until 2015. In addition, she is a corporate director for EllisDon, and chairs the steering committee for The 30% Club in Canada. She served on the Branksome Hall Board of Governors from 2009-2013. She is a Greenwood parent.
  • Ferg Devins

    Ferg Devins leads his own communications boutique, The Devins Network. His work is focused on better connecting his clients to their community through government relations, public relations, community outreach and corporate social media strategies. Ferg served at Molson Coors Canada as their Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, prior to retiring in 2013. Ferg is a survivor of bladder cancer and is the current Board Chair of Bladder Cancer Canada. He is a past President of the Queen’s University Alumni Association, a Co-Founder of the Coney Island Music Festival in Kenora, Ontario and a former member of boards and executive committees at Variety Village, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Tourism Toronto and the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation. Ferg and his wife Kathy live in Toronto and are parents of Greenwood alumni Helena (‘11) and Clark (‘14).
  • Walter Farag

    Walter Farag is currently the Corporate Treasurer of Dundee Precious Metals, responsible for treasury, financial risk management, capital markets and taxation. Over the years, Walter has held various senior treasury and finance roles at Sunwing Travel Group, Votorantim Cement North America Inc, Citigroup Canada and RBC Financial Group. He has held international assignments in Brazil, Spain and England. Walter began his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) after obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto. He has also attained his Chartered Professional Accountant ("CPA") and Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") designations. Walter’s daughter, Isabella (Izzy) graduated from Greenwood in 2017 and is studying Commerce at Queen’s University.
  • Marshall Korenblum

    Dr. Marshall Korenblum is the Medical Director at Sick Kids Centre for Community Mental Health, a children’s mental health centre in Toronto. He is also an Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, and a consultant to the Division of Youth Psychiatry, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and Jewish Family and Child Service, a child welfare agency.

    A passionate believer in education and reduction of stigma, he does outreach to high schools and has posted a number of YouTube videos on children’s mental health.
  • Sherri Laurie

    Sherri Laurie is the Global Head of HR Operations at BCG, a global management consulting firm and the world’s leading advisor on business strategy, with over 12,000 employees across 85 offices in almost 50 countries. In her current role, Sherri leads BCGs All Staff Comp & Benefits, Mobility Services, and General HR functions and systems, Strategic Change and New Business HR as well as the HR functions for BCGs non-consulting populations. Sherri serves on several committees including the Global Functions Leadership Team, Consulting People Team, HR Systems Investment Committee, and Chairs BCGs Compensation Committee and Business Functions and Knowledge People Team.

    A seasoned operations leader, in the past Sherri has led North and South Americas Operations and Staffing at BCG and served as general manager of BCGs Canadian practice. Earlier in her career, Sherri spent a decade in client services focusing her consulting practice on strategy, shareholder value, corporate development and M&A across a broad range of industries. Prior to joining The Boston Consulting Group, Sherri was a co-owner of Canada Consulting based in Toronto. She began her career in retail banking.
  • Judy Lewis

    Judy Lewis is co-founder and partner of Strategic Objectives, Canada’s most award-winning public relations agency. A respected communications and public relations strategist, Judy provides senior counsel and insight–led creative PR solutions to many of Canada’s and the world’s leading brands and organizations. Judy has led many of the agency’s award-winning programs that have earned national and international recognition, including the United Nations Grand Award for Outstanding Achievement in Public Relations; numerous ABC Gold Quill Awards; and CPRS ACE Awards’ Most Creative Campaign of the Year and Digital Campaign of the Year. Judy has been named CPRS ACE Award PR Professional of the Year and is the recipient of both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Canada and the Communications Industry. Judy lives in Toronto and is an active volunteer in her community. She is a parent of two Greenwood alumni (2009, 2011), and was the Co-Op Placement Host for many years.
  • Donald Lewtas (Chair)

    Don Lewtahas been a Director with Greenwood since 2006 and became Board Chair in 2017. Don is a Managing Director with Onex Corporation. Since joining Onex in 1987 he has held positions of increasing responsibility for Onex' financial activities from Director of Finance to Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Onex, he was with KPMG LLP in their Montreal, Toronto and National offices. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and holds a B.Comm from McGill University. Don’s activities with educational institutions includes that he is the current Chair of the International Advisory Board for the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University and was a past Director and Chair of the The Gow School in New York. Don’s son Stephen graduated from Greenwood in 2008.
  • Glen Stewart

    Glen Stewart is the Chief Financial Officer of the Soutterham Group. A Chartered Accountant and former tax advisor with PwC, Glen has been involved with Greenwood since its inception. Having assisted in various roles, he was significantly involved in both the development of the school's infrastructure and financial plan that have resulted in Greenwood's strong financial position. He currently serves as Greenwood's Corporate Secretary and Chair of its Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. Both of his children currently attend Greenwood.
  • Richard Venn

    Richard Venn held a 40-year career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce ("CIBC") where he led CIBC's investment banking and merchant banking operations. Mr. Venn served for seven years as the Chairman and CEO of CIBC's Canadian dealer and led CIBC's Corporate Development Group for more than a decade. He was instrumental in the formation of CIBC Mellon and CIBC FirstCaribbean and served as a board member with those companies for many years. 

    Mr. Venn is Chairman of Element Fleet Management’s Board of Directors and is Chair of the Compensation & Corporate Governance Committee, as well as a member of the Risk & Credit Committee. He previously served on the Boards of The Bank of Butterfield, the Dominion Bond Rating Service, and more than 10 other companies. He currently serves on the Foundation Board of Mount Sinai Hospital and is past Chair of the United Jewish Federation of Toronto and the United Way of Greater Toronto.

    Mr. Venn received a BASc (Engineering Science) in 1973 from the University of Toronto and completed his MBA at Harvard (Scholarship) in 1975.
  • Richard Wernham (Past Chair)

    Richard Wernham has more than 30 years’ experience in global wealth management and was the founder and Chief Executive of Global Strategy Financial, one of Canada’s largest independent mutual fund companies. Currently the Group Chairman of the Soutterham Group, he was formerly a lawyer with Tory, Tory, DesLauriers and Binnington. He is a Governor of the Royal Ontario Museum. Richard was also a Special Lecturer in Law, Trinity College at the University of Toronto and holds an appointment as a Trustee of Lakefield College School.

    He and his wife Julia also funded the establishment of the Richard Wernham and Julia West Centre for Learning at Upper Canada College. In recognition of their contributions to education, Richard and Julia received the Robert L. Payton Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in 2010. His children Emma (’06) and Simon (’08) are Greenwood alumni.
  • Julia West

    Julia West is the President of Julia West Home, a design company that creates custom designs for residential, commercial and institutional clients. A lawyer by profession, Julia practiced law for 20 years, specializing in civil litigation. Julia’s involvement in academic life includes direct education and instructional experience as a Sessional Lecturer, Department of Law at Carleton University. Julia has also been a significant financial supporter to other educational goals, including making the largest contribution in the history of Upper Canada College to establish the Richard Wernham and Julia West Centre for Learning. Julia and her husband Richard Wernham have three children: Nick, Emma and Simon.
  • Neville Wilson

    Neville Wilson is an executive coach based in Toronto. In her coaching, Neville works with C-Suite leaders to ensure they are truly optimizing their impact within their organizations, with their Boards and externally in the community. Neville employs superb listening skills, takes an advisory approach and quickly gets to the heart of each challenge faced by her clients. As an astute coach and engaging facilitator, Neville has worked with senior leaders in organizations across Canada, the USA and Europe. Her clients include CEOs, top team members and high potential leaders aspiring to executive roles. She leverages 20 years of global sales leadership experience with industry-leading companies, including IBM, Apple Computer and Filogix. At Filogix, prior to joining Knightsbridge, Neville reported to the President and was a member of the Senior Executive Team. Most recently, Neville was Vice-President, Leadership Coaching with Knightsbridge Human Capital Solutions in Toronto. Neville’s sons Peter (’07), Tom ('12) and Jamie (’14) are Greenwood alumni.
