Greenwood Coach Anthony Costa Takes Regional Award
By John Carson, E-Communications Officer
Greenwood coach Anthony Costa has been recognized for his athletic knowledge by being chosen as the Town Crier Central Region Coach of the Year.
The award was presented today at a special breakfast banquet with the other nominees from both public and independent schools in the area. Click here for the Town Crier coverage.
Anthony was a high-level swimming competitor through high school and university, and has been coaching Greenwood's swim team for six years. He has helped a number of students achieve their personal best in the sport, including some of them going on to the OFSAA level of competition. He has also led the soccer team to a number of playoff finals.
"Anthony demonstrates complete dedication to the teams that he coaches," says Heather Maxted, Acting Athletic Director. "He is always willing to help out a team, or even take on a sport to coach that he is unfamiliar with.
"He will do research, attend clinics and do his absolute best to become a master coach in the sport. He is a true leader when it comes to coaching and instilling the love of the game in all of his athletes. Anthony is truly deserving of this recognition!" she adds.
