The Greenwood Grade 12 Headlines of History class were on hand on October 29 to attend a tulip planting ceremony at Sunnybrook Veterans' Hospital.
2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands and the end of the World War II. It's also the 70th anniversary of the first gift of 100,000 Dutch tulip bulbs to Canadians as a symbol of appreciation for the role Canadian soldiers played in the liberation of the Netherlands.

The ceremony included speeches from veterans, the Consul General of the Netherlands and expert gardener Mark Cullen to commemorate the event.

After the speeches, Greenwood students had the chance to plant tulip bulbs with the veterans.
