roger: Greenwood is a
positive alternative to the private school orthodoxy
in Toronto.

The common educational model is to work students to the extreme to prepare them for winning in life through hard work, not creative work. Greenwood, however, focuses on helping young boys and girls find a positive expression of themselves in their world. That prepares them for far more than orthodoxy does. Greenwood is both encouraging and challenging, not just the latter.

daniel martin, Class of 2009
At Greenwood: Head Boy 2009, Volleyball team (Grade 8-12), Tennis team (Grade 7-12), Basketball team (Grade 7-10). Major performer in school plays (Grade 10-12). Crafts program for children on the Oncology ward at Sick Kids. Three years in the model United Nations program.
Future: Possibly medical school.

daniel: I appreciate Greenwood so much because of the opportunities it has given me. I don’t think of myself as particularly remarkable, but I helped Greenwood win two CISAA banners. I was the lead in a school play, which was far too much fun.

Being elected Head Boy was pretty unbeatable. I get goose bumps just writing about it.

So much of what we stand for does sound improbable, but the school has had great success tying all of its ideals together. Greenwood has seen me become who I am, and I can’t give enough thanks for that.

Scariest Greenwood moment: I dreamt I was expelled once. It was a few minutes before I realized it was a dream, but it was a heartbreaking few minutes. I didn’t know what I was going to do.
