Celebrating Kathryn Kelly

Kate Raven
As leader of our Student Success Centre for nine years, Kathryn’s contribution to individualized learning at Greenwood and her impact on the lives of many students has been immeasurable. In anticipation of her retirement this June, we celebrated her career and her contribution to Greenwood on May 21.
The Lodge was packed with current and former students and parents, staff, and friends of Kathryn last night as we paid tribute to her remarkable accomplishments.

Since she joined Greenwood in 2004 to open the Student Success Centre, it has always been Kathryn's belief that every student can be successful. Under her leadership, the Centre has grown by leaps and bounds, growing from a staff of one to a staff of six and becoming a thriving hub of the school.

"Kathryn has the gift of connecting with teenagers," Principal Hardy said in his opening. "Whenever I pass the Success Centre she's inevitably with a student, talking through a problem or giving guidance on study habits."

The evening also included a short speech from Wendy Baker, a former colleague and close friend of Kathryn's, and a video montage featuring submissions from the many students and staff whose lives she has touched.

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to share their memories of Kathryn in a tribute book, which was presented to her at the end of the event. Kathryn also received a surprise: a beautiful landscape painting by Lulu Tanenbaum ('13).

We sincerely thank Kathryn for her contributions to Greenwood, and we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life.
