Parents

Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education. And their presence — as volunteers, donors and advisors — helps to define the Greenwood spirit.
Grade parent representatives, curriculum nights, direct contact with teachers, parent-teacher interviews and the Greenwood Roundtable ensure open and ongoing lines of communication between parents and the school, and among parents themselves.
Parents have many different opportunities to get involved with and stay connected to Greenwood including:
- Roundtable, Greenwood’s parents’ association, organizes many of the school’s volunteer opportunities, from an annual holiday sale to coordinating telephone trees and staff appreciation.
- Blackboard, the intranet for the Greenwood community, which houses course information, homework, clubs, news and student discussions. Each Greenwood parent receives a unique username and password that enables them to access certain components of Blackboard, including their son or daughter’s homework assignments and upcoming tests.
- Life@Greenwood, the bi-weekly electronic newsletter that keeps parents informed of day-to-day activities of the school.
Parents are central to how the school runs in a variety of other volunteer roles including committees of the Board, advisory groups and focus groups.
One of the most generous expressions of the Greenwood spirit is our parents’ financial support. 68% of parents — as well as 82% of our faculty and staff — support the school with a donation every year. These contributions enable Greenwood to remain flexible, respond to change and seize every opportunity for our students.
