Grade 7 & 8 Program
Greenwood’s integrated Grade 7 & 8 program has been designed to reflect the realities and complexities of adolescent learners. The focus is on making instruction as relevant, engaging and enjoyable as possible.
Integration of subject studies allows students to experience a unit across many course disciplines, providing unique opportunities to develop key skills and concepts. By uncovering patterns and making connections, students develop the vital foundation for successful lifelong learning. For example, students studying a contentious environmental project in New Brunswick investigated tourism in the region, studied the project’s impact on marine life and completed the unit with a trip to Ottawa to deliver persuasive essays and handmade political cartoons to Members of Parliament. In this way, learning becomes relevant, fun and applicable to everyday life.
In addition to academics, a Greenwood education incorporates physical education, a compulsory Outdoor Leadership Program and a firm commitment to community service.
Every student is also a member of a Teacher Adviser Group (TAG), in which one teacher supervises a small group of students and oversees their academic, social and extracurricular development. The Teacher Adviser also becomes the family’s main contact for school-related academic issues.
